She holds a PhD from the Humboldt University of Berlin on climate change and migration.
She is head of the Climate and Foreign Policy Centre of the German Council on Foreign Relations, researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and co-chair of the German government's Advisory Council for Civil Crisis Prevention and Peacebuilding.
Her research focuses on the human dimensions of climate change, the impact on migration and human security.
