Kawak Dionysius Jean
Orthodox Archbishop, Syrian Church
[Damascus, SYRIA 1966]
Director of the Patriarchal Office, in charge of the youth groups and Sunday school of the Syrian Orthodox Archdiocese of Damascus, he was also chairman of the 'St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee', an organisation set up to help people displaced in the Damascus area by the conflict that has been plaguing Syria for years. In 2015, he became Patriarchal Assistant to Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II. In 2016, he became Patriarchal Vicar for the Archdiocese of the Eastern United States. The faithful of this Church have become witnesses to the horror of war.
