Born in 1940 in Vannes, France, he is an economist and philosopher.
He is emeritus professor of the University Jean Monnet of Paris XI and of IEDES (Institut d' Etude du Dévelopement Economique et Social) of Paris.
He is a well known specialist in the domain of economic anthropology, and collaborates to “La Revue de Mauss”.
He is among the most notorious adversaries of the westernization of the planet to which he has dedicated numerous books, amongst others: “The westernization of the world” (1992) and the last one, in chronological order, “the bet of Decrease” (2007).
