The words of the forgotten countries resound in Barcelona. The president of the National Council of Transition in Guinea Conakry, one of the poorest countries in Africa where a delicate transition process to democracy is running, intervenes at International Meeting for Peace.

"I want to publicly testify - Mrs. Diallo said - the great interest and concern of the Community of Sant'Egidio for Guinea, also carried out through its charitable work: free schools, health centers and care of AIDS patients , as well as legal assistance and social support to prisoners including their rehabilitation after the detention. "

The President recalled that Sant'Egidio is a privileged partner to lead the country out of "political and institutional crisis which occurred in Guinea 23 December 2008 following the death of President Lansana Conte." In fact, in Rome, the Community of Sant'Egidio called in May 2010 a delegation including representatives of the National Reconciliation Commission, coalitions of political parties and associations of victims of political persecution, to discuss and settle the framework agreement for cooperation and for accompanying the transition process in Guinea.

"The friends of Sant'Egidio - said Mrs. Rabiatou Diallo - have told us that when the Community commits itself never gives up. For this commitment we are here today. We have more need than ever of understanding, support, the support and assistance of all our partners to conduct a rapid and peaceful transition."
