Archbishop of Bologne since 2015, parish priest in Trastevere in Rome for many years and in the periphery of the city of which he became Auxilary Bishop in 2012.
Ecclesiastical Assistent of the Community of Sant'Egidio since 2000.
In 2019 he was created cardinal by Pope Francis with the title of the Church of Sant'Egidio.
Is name is linked to the commitment of the Community of Sant'Egidio for peace, especially in Africa and Latin America. Author of studies and spiritual reflections on the challenges of our time.
