He was born into a farming family in Ketoukpe, a small village in Benin. Following a profound religious conversion, he chose to dedicate himself to the care of the mentally ill in Africa. In 1994, he founded the 'Saint Camille de Lellis' association, which, through its reception centres, helps tens of thousands of psychiatric patients from the 'chains of stigma' in five sub-Saharan African countries.
