Since 2021 he has been President of Renovabis, the organisation that provides aid to Eastern Europe for the German Catholic Church. From 2005 to 2014 he was honorary professor of applied ethics and business ethics at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. Since 2014 he has been a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
